Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) and J7 (2016) user manual hint

The Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7 are less than a year old, but their and the Korean giant is about to roll out improved models for 2016. We already know that both budget-friendly handsets have received their Bluetooth SIG certification and the latter has also made a visit to FCC, so, it seems to be only a matter of time, before the refreshed 2016 editions become available.

This might actually happen any time now, as suggested by a pair of official user manuals for the China Mobile and China Telecom versions of the handsets, found on Samsung servers. This might also be a sign that the J7 (2016) and J5 (2016) will be made available in China ahead of other markets, which was also the case with their predecessors.

As for the contents of the manuals, they hold little additional information in terms of hardware and specs, but there are still a few bit and pieces of information here and there. For one, the antenna slits that we first saw in the TENAA certifications a few days ago are once again clearly visible.
Although nothing about materials is specifically mentioned, we think it is fairly safe to assume that the plastic is in place to accommodate radio reception through the metal removable back covers. This, of course, suggests that both phones will be the first budget offers from Samsung to feature a metal unibody. Even better, it will be detachable to give access to the large removable batteries - as big as 3,300 mAh on the J7.

The menus also reference Android 5.1.1, as well as the Samsung Music app, which has been disappearing and reappearing lately on many devices, as Samsung still seems undecided on its future.

LG Stylus 2 is the first phone with DAB+

LG is pouncing on this opportunity with the LG Stylus 2 - the first smartphone with DAB+ support. Norway, along with Australia, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK will be among the first countries to get the Stylus 2 (LG is mum on the exact date, though).

The phone itself is a 5.7" entry-level handset with a 720p screen (yes, on that diagonal) and a capacitive stylus.

It's powered by a quad-core processor (1.2GHz) with 1.5GB of RAM, has a 13MP + 8MP cameras and a 3,000mAh battery. On the upside, you do get Android 6.0 Marshmallow and LTE. And a 1W loudspeaker for the radio.

Phone trivia sidenote: while the LG Stylus 2 is the first with DAB+, the first phone with DAB seems to be the Virgin Lobster 700TV. I don't know if it was the name or the looks, but it failed to bolster DAB adoption.

So, what's DAB+? For one, it's based on the HC-AAC codec (while regular DAB is MP2, similar to MP3). And since it's a digital broadcast it can carry more advanced data than FM RDS and features things like caching, similar to Internet streaming (but it's free and requires no carrier data).

LG says that broadcasters can make apps to enhance the listening experience with additional data pulled from the web.

Xiaomi Mi Box 3 Enhanced Edition Launched

xiaomi_mi_box_3_official_3.jpg

Xiaomi continues to focus on miniature digital players for televisions, a market that is largely untapped. The Chinese technology conglomerate has launched the Mi Box 3 Enhanced Edition. The Mi Box 3 Enhanced Edition is priced at CNY 399 (roughly $61, or Rs. 4,100), and is currently only available for purchase in China.

The Xiaomi Mi Box 3 Enhanced Edition offers a substantial upgrade over the Xiaomi Mi Box 3. In fact, the company claims that the CPU performance in the new Xiaomi Mi Box 3 is about 80 percent faster than its predecessor, and the GPU performance is about 240 percent faster. Xiaomi says that the Mi Box 3 Enhanced Edition has scored 66,015 points on the AnTuTu benchmark - which is supposedly almost twice as powerful as the Mi Box 3.

The innards of the Xiaomi Mi Box 3 Enhanced Edition include a 64-bit MediaTek MT8693 hexa-core SoC coupled with a PowerVR GX6250 GPU. The CPU consists of two Cortex-A72 chips clocked at 2GHz each, and four Cortex-A53 chips clocked at 1.6GHz. It also supports OpenGL ES 3.1. The company says that it has improved the internal cooling system inside the digital player.

Other features of the Mi Box 3 Enhanced Edition include 2GB of RAM and 8GB of inbuilt storage. The Wi-Fi connectivity is getting improvements too, supporting 802.11ac 2x2 with transfer speeds of up to 300Mbps and Bluetooth v4.1.

On the software front, it runs MIUI TV, which is based on Android 5.1. Xiaomi claims that its set-top box can run 10bit video files in H.265 codec for as high as 4K screen resolution at 60 frames per second. The Mi Box 3 Enhanced Edition also supports Dolby and DTS Sound.

Why Freedom 251 Mobile announced-Reasons?

Buy!

a) Political leaders have launched this product

At a glittering event, veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi launched this handset in Delhi. Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar was also expected to attend this event, but he failed to turn up.

b) Ownership Is Clear

Freedom 21 delivery date

The company’s owners are not hiding and have presented themselves to be scrutinized. Here is the Facebook profile of the founder Mohit Goel, who goes by the name ‘Cute Mohit’; besides, all the founders of this company have come out in the open in today’s full page ad on TOI and mentioned that the handsets would be delivered in June.Freedom 21 delivery date

Don.t Buy?

 Not Govt. Approved:

Ringing Bell, the parent company behind the scintillating offer is not listed under Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which means that they are not certified to sell any product in India. This is a major red flag alert, which indicates that it’s a scam. And, there are no address mentioned on their website; the copy which they have written describing the advantages and features are all amateurish, and the Tweets they are sending are unprofessional to say the least.

Only time will tell about the truth, which would be revealed on June 30th, when Ringing Bells will deliver the first batch of their Freedom 251 handsets.

 Promises Broken:

As per the specifications mentioned in their website, this smartphone will be pre-loaded with several apps such as Swatch Bharat, Women Safety App, Facebook, Whatsapp and more. But the review unit didn’t had any such app. Besides, the actual handset received by HT is entirely different from the handset which is being shown on their website and the full page ads in newspapers.

4 Reasons Freedom 251 Might Be a Massive Scam

Infact, the icons & browser seems a direct copy of iOS icons and Safari browser.

The actual product is a shady rebranded ripoff:

Sample unit of Freedom 251 was reviewed by Hindustan Times, and they found that it’s a shady, rebranded ripoff of a smartphone sold by a company named Adcom, which is a Delhi based importer of gadgets and electronic products. And, Marketing Manager of Adcom has said, “We have no idea that our branding is being used on the Freedom 251.. We will look into this.”

Adcom A400, the handset which is being allegedly rebranded (without their permission) was launched 2 years ago. Hence, it can be a possibility that Ringing Bells are now reselling the old stock at lower price.

The most hilarious thing is that, the logo of Adcom is hidden by a whitener. No genuine company selling a smartphone shall do that.. Never!

Adcom Freedom 251

Interestingly, the handset which has been rebranded is sold for Rs 4000 by Adcom. How will a new company rebrand it and sell the same for Rs 251? A huge red flag for scam alert here.

 Unrealistic/Infeasible Pricing:

Mobile Industry Body Indian Cellular Association (ICA) has written to Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, asking him to look into this matter, as there is no way any company can sell such a handset below Rs 2700, even after considering all discount factors.

ICA President said, “For your kind information, the bill of material (BOM) value for a product like this when sourced from the cheapest supply chain cost approximately USD 40 (Rs 2,700).”

Considering that this handset feature 4-inch display, Qualcomm 1.3-GHz quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM; the individual cost of each component itself will be far more than Rs 251.

Gionee S8 - Specifications,Price

The Gionee S8 features a "loop" full-metal design. "Loop" here means that the antenna runs around the side of the phone. Unlike the LG G5, the S8 has traditional antenna lines, but they are painted to perfectly match the rest of the body.
The AMOLED screen has 1080p resolution and is covered with 2.5D glass. It has 3D touch too, recognizing three levels - Touch (selects), Tap (previews) and Press (opens).
Elife E8Elife E8

The camera comes fully loaded. It's a 16MP shooter that's geared towards low-light shooting. It has a bright f/1.8 aperture and a RWB sensor - that means the usual green pixels have been replaced with more sensitive white ones. Gionee promises a 40% boost in sensitivity and an 80% reduction in noise. There's also Laser focus and Phase Detection AF.

The Gionee S8 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 chipset (octa-core CPU) with a healthy dose of memory - 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The 3,000mAh can be fast charged at 18W (9V, 2A).

The phone records 1080p video with advanced audio capture. A 70dB high-sensitivity dual-mic system and an AKM4961 chip do the work. There's "multi-dimensional" noise reduction and "3D recording."

The phone will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow at launch and has a fingerprint reader on its Home key. Initially, the custom Amigo 3.2 skin will be used (Gionee's own take on Android), but the 4.0 update will come out in June.
The Gionee S8 will launch at the end of March for €450.

World's first 6GB RAM Smartphone vivo XPlay 5

Vivo, the Chinese tech company better known for its slimvsmartphone - the Vivo Max, has uv confirmed it will include massive 6GB LPDDR4 RAM in its upcoming smartphone - the Xplay 5.
The confirmation comes from Vivo's Weibo account post made on Monday (via Phonearena). The post features a teaser image mentioning 6GB LPDDR4 RAM and Snapdragon 820 processor for the Vivo Xplay 5. The smartphone will be launched on March 1 this year. Some of the previous teasers have indicated the handset to sport a QHD (1440x2560 pixels) resolution display.
The inclusion of 6GB RAM should not come as a surprise to as Samsung in September last year already started producing 6GB LPDDR4 RAM for smartphones and tablets. Until now, the most we have seen in a smartphone or a phablet is 4GB RAM. Asus was the first in line to pack 4GB RAM in its Zenfone 2 handset, which was followed by Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Egde+.
We are yet to see how Vivo plans to make complete use of the 6GB RAM inside the Xplay 5. It is being assumed that the company might have found a way to dedicate some of the memory to its graphic unit.
Vivo at CES 2016 unveiled two Android smartphones, the Vivo 5 and Vivo XL. The Vivo XL sports a liquid metal finish while the Vivo 5 features a full metal design. Both the new Blu phones come with a lot of identical innards such as 5.5-inch Super Amoled HD display, octa-core MediaTek (MT6753) processor and more. One of the biggest differences between the two handsets is that the Vivo 5 features 3GB of RAM and comes with 32GB inbuilt storage, while the Vivo XL packs 2GB of RAM and includes 16GB of inbuilt storage.
